In the 1956 Olympic Games in the Australian city of Melbourne was from 3 to 6 December tandem in cycling held for men.

10 teams (20 athletes) from 10 nations determined the Olympic champion in the Melbourne Olympic Park Velodrome : The Australian team Ian Browne / Tony Marchant won ahead of the Czech duo Ladislav Fouček / Václav Machek and the team Giuseppe Ogna / Cesare Pinarello from Italy .
