The men's tandem race over 2000 meters at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich took place from September 3rd to 4th. There were 14 pairs at the start. Olympic champions were Wladimir Semenez and Igor Zelowalnikow from the Soviet Union, silver went to the duo Jürgen Geschke and Werner Otto from the GDR and bronze went to Andrzej Bek and Benedykt Kocot from Poland.
