The men's 200 meter canoe competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held on August 10 and 11, 2012 on Dorney Lake . 25 athletes took part.

The competition over 200 meters is new to the Olympic program and replaces the canoe race over 500 meters. Four preliminary runs were started on August 10th. The first six starters qualified for the semifinals. The rest were eliminated.

In the semifinals, the first two athletes and the two fastest athletes in 3rd place qualified for Final A. The slowest boat in 3rd place, the boats in 4th and 5th place, and the fastest in 6th place qualified for Final B, with which the places 9 to 16 were determined. The athletes in positions 7 and 8 and the two slower starters in position 6 were eliminated.

The directly qualified athletes in the preliminary runs are highlighted in light green, those who have qualified over time are highlighted in light blue. The starters qualified for Final A are highlighted in light green, those who have qualified over time are highlighted in light blue. The starters who are qualified for Final B are highlighted in orange.

Jevgenijus Šuklinas originally achieved second place with a time of 42.792 s and won the first Olympic medal for Lithuania in canoe racing. On June 13, 2019, the IOC retrospectively stripped him of the silver medal . In follow-up tests, the consumption of the forbidden anabolic dehydrochloromethyltestosterone (Turinabol) was proven.
