At the first Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix in 1924 , a curling competition was held. The venue was the Stade Olympique.

For a long time, this competition for men was considered a demonstration or demonstration competition, although at the time of the First Olympic Winter Games, no differentiation was made between demonstration and original competitions. In January 2006 the International Olympic Committee decided that curling was an official competition in 1924 and declared the United Kingdom an Olympic Champion.

Medalist

The British team, composed of members of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club in Perth , won the competition by a large margin. The only serious competitors at that time would have been the Swiss who had also traveled there, but they preferred not to take part in the competition at short notice. Curling was still relatively unknown in France at the time, which is why the competition was only held in front of a few spectators. But they were enthusiastic about the sport, as it was somewhat similar to the boule game popular in France .
