At the first Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix in 1924 , a competition in Nordic combined took place. All Nordic ski competitions at the Games were also considered the 1st Nordic World Ski Championships . The venues were the Stade Olympique and the Le Mont ski jump .
In 1921 the International Olympic Committee decided to hold an "International Week of Sport". This was first held in Chamonix in 1924 and was such a great success that the IOC subsequently declared it to be the first Winter Olympic Games in 1926. In addition to Olympic medals, world championship medals were also awarded. The only exception was the Nordic Combined, in which there were only Olympic medals. The competitions were reserved for men for a long time. German participants were not admitted again until 1928 after the First World War .
