NOR

Norway participated in the 1924 Winter Olympics in Chamonix with a delegation of 14 athletes in 3 sports. The Norwegian NOK had registered 14 athletes for the games. All took part in the competitions.

Balance: Norway almost only sent athletes to Chamonix who were promising medal candidates. The only exception is the only 11-year-old Sonja Henie , who took last place in the women's figure skating competition. The skiers Thorleif Haug (3 gold) and Johan Grøttumsbråten (1 silver, 2 bronze) and the speed skater Roald Larsen (2 silver and 3 bronze) are among the most successful participants in the Chamonix winter sports weeks. However, a bronze medal in ski jumping was revoked from Thorleif Haug 50 years later due to a miscalculation by the jury at the time. Other medal collectors in the Norwegian team were the skiers Jacob Tullin Thams (gold), Thoralf Strømstad (2 silver) and Narve Bonna (silver) as well as the speed skaters Oskar Olsen (silver) and Sigurd Moen (bronze). Overall, the Norwegians won 17 of the 49 medals awarded in Chamonix and are the most successful nation ahead of Finland, Austria, the USA and Great Britain.
