Omero Antonutti (born August 3, 1935 in Basiliano , † November 5, 2019 in Udine ) was an Italian actor and voice actor .

Life

Antonutti worked at shipyards in Trieste before making his stage debut at the local theater; From 1962 to 1976 he spent fourteen years at the Stabile di Genova , where he often worked with Luigi Squarzina . He showed great flexibility in his portrayal, with Antonutti himself being more inclined to modern than classical roles. In 1977 he had his breakthrough with his father “Gavino Leddas” in the cinema, for which he had only worked sparsely until then, in Padre Padrone - My Father, My Lord ; He also presented his patriarchs, who tolerated no contradiction, with the resources of the epic theater , which he had got to know while interpreting Brechtian plays.

Many of his now more frequent film roles were father figures of various shapes and forms; he was seen as Luigi Pirandello in Kaos , as an old restorer of cathedrals in Good Morning Babylon and as Noah in The Bible - Genesis . Several times he starred in Spanish films. Since the mid-1990s, he has also repeatedly accepted engagements for television work. He has appeared in several films by the Taviani brothers ( The Night of San Lorenzo , Kaos , Good Morning Babylon ). His work for film and television includes more than 80 productions.

Antonutti also worked as an Italian voice actor , including for numerous films with Christopher Lee , such as in the saga "The Lord of the Rings".
