The Omignon is a river in France that runs in the Hauts-de-France region . Its source stream has its origin in the municipality of Bellenglise , right next to the Canal de Saint-Quentin , when the stream was evidently diverted and shortened. It initially drains with little water flow, crosses under the A26 motorway and reaches the village of Pontru , where other source streams join. From here it flows through a valley rich in floodplains , which is repeatedly interspersed with small lakes and wet meadows , in a south-west to west direction and, after a total of 32 kilometers, flows into the Somme as a right tributary in the municipality of Brie . On its way, the Omignon crosses the Aisne and Somme departments .
