One Second is the sixth studio album by the English band Paradise Lost . It was released in July 1997.

Origin and style

Already on the previous album Draconian Times , increasingly faster, catchier songs could be heard. On One Second , these were not only numerous but also increasingly with synth basses and keyboard pads enriched, although the guitars often still dominated and scattered metal - riffs are heard. Nick Holmes' vocals were now completely clean. The album was recorded with Ulf "Sank" Sandqvist in London and Wales .

reception

Allmusic's Eduardo Rivadavia wrote that fans of the early Paradise Lost should approach with caution. But there is no way to deny the quality of this radical but impressive departure. He awarded four out of five stars. Rock-Hard editor Holger Stratmann sums it up: “Occasionally one would have wished for a few more guitar tips and with Blood of Another there is also a similarly banal track as the last single The Last Time , but overall One Second is for me a second round and exciting rock album of the top class. ”The rating was nine out of ten points.
