The Opel Museum Herne is a technology and car museum with a focus on products from Adam Opel AG . It is located at Riemker Straße 22 in Herne .

history

The mechanical engineer Hilmar Born founded the museum in 1990. It is now sponsored by the OPEL Museum Herne association.

Exhibits

The rented hall is 2500 m². Oldtimers , prams , bicycles , sewing machines , refrigerators , merchandising articles and other exhibits from the Opel company are on display . In 2001 the exhibition comprised around 20 vehicles, including Opel Ascona A and C , Blitz , Commodore A, B and C , Diplomat B , Kadett C , Manta B , Monza , Olympia Rekord , Rekord A , C , D , E and P2 (1961 ) and Senator in the exhibition. In 2013 the collection consisted of around 50 vehicles. One of the unusual pieces is an Opel Admiral with six doors, which was built on behalf of the German government . The visitors can watch the restoration.

Others

The association organizes a get-together on Thursdays and a classic car meeting twice a year.

The museum has already occupied a stand at the Techno-Classica classic car fair in Essen several times and exhibited one vehicle each time.
