Opelika is a city and county seat of Lee County to the east of the US -amerikanischen state of Alabama . In 2000 Opelika had 23,498 inhabitants; by the 2009 estimate, the population had risen to 27,454. Opelika extends over an area of 138.4 km². The city is off Interstate 85 .
