William Ronald "Will" Herring (* 28. August 1983 in Opelika , Alabama ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the linebackers . He played eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL).

Player career

High school and college

Herring was born to Libba and Ron Herring. He has two siblings and attended high school in Opelika . With the local football team he played as a quarterback . From 2002 to 2006 he studied at Auburn University . He was not on the college football team for the first year . Until 2005 he played first as safety and was retrained as a linebacker in 2006. From 2003 to 2006 Herring was able to move into a total of four bowl games with his team . The team won three of the games. Herring graduated in sports science .

NFL

Herring was selected in 2007 by the Seattle Seahawks in the fifth round of the NFL Draft in 161st place. He received a contract for four years with an income of 1,828,000 dollars . The first two years of play Herring was used only once as a starter in defense . He played mostly in the special teams of the Seahawks. From the 2009 season he was also able to establish himself in defense.

In his first year of play, Herring moved into the play-offs with the Seahawks . There the team trained by Mike Holmgren had to admit defeat to the Green Bay Packers with 20:42. In 2008 and 2009, the Seahawks could not get into the play-offs. After the 2010 season, he moved to the New Orleans Saints , where he played until 2013 . With the Dallas Cowboys he then signed a one-year contract, which was terminated early. He then signed with the Los Angeles Rams on October 7, 2014 .
