Matthew Garrett "Matt" Forté (* 10. December 1985 in Lake Charles , Louisiana ) is a former American American football poker players in the position of running backs . He played for the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets in the National Football League (NFL).

college

Forté played in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college football for Tulane University in New Orleans , Louisiana , a member of Conference USA . He had 44 touchdowns and 99.2 yards per game in three years. In addition, he completed his college career as the second-best running back in university history, and in 2007 was the eleventh player in NCAA Division I history to reach over 2000 yards in one season. At 2,127 yards, he was the seventh best ever.

Chicago Bears

Forte was selected by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft . He ran 1,238 yards for the Bears in his rookie season . He was elected to the Pro Bowl for the first time in the 2011 season and the second time in 2013. In the seasons 2008 to 2014 he ran five times more than 1000 yards and established himself among the best running backs in the NFL. In addition, he was also considered a dangerous passport recipient. In the 2014 season , he set an NFL record for the most passes caught by a running back (102).

New York Jets

After his contract with the Bears expired after the 2015 season and was not renewed, he moved to the New York Jets .

On February 28, 2018, Forté declared his playing career over.
