Oracular Spectacular is the first studio album by the American electro-pop duo MGMT . The album was first released on October 2, 2007 as a digital version by Red Ink Records and on January 22, 2008 as CD and LP by Columbia Records . The album features new versions of the successful singles Kids and Time to Pretend , which were already released on the Time to Pretend EP from 2005.
The album, produced in March and April 2007, was voted Best Album 2008 by NME . The title Time to Pretend was chosen as the "second best single of the decade". The album has sold more than a million copies since its release.
In 2009 the album was nominated for Best International Album at the BRIT Awards .
It ranks 494 in the list of the 500 best albums of all time by the American music magazine Rolling Stone . The magazine ranks Oracular Spectacular at number 18 of the 100 best albums of the decade. The New Musical Express voted it 471 of the 500 best albums.
