The Orange fleabane ( Erigeron aurantiacus ) is a plant from the family of the daisy family (Asteraceae).

description

The orange-colored fleabane is a perennial herbaceous Pleiokorm cushion plant that reaches heights of 20 to 30 centimeters. The stem is densely covered with protruding layers of hair. The leaves are entire. The lower leaves are oblong-lanceolate or spatulate and have long stalks. The 7 to 17 stem leaves are half-stem-encompassing and lanceolate. The flower heads are arranged individually or 2 to 4 and have a diameter of 2.5 to 4 centimeters. The ray-flowers are 1 to 1.4 millimeters wide, multi-row and mostly orange-red, rarely yellow or brick-red. The disc flowers are yellow.

The flowering period extends from July to August.

Occurrence

The orange-colored fleabane occurs in Central Asia in the Djungarian Alatau and in the Tian Shan on alpine lawns and in subalpine woody plants at altitudes of 2100 to 3800 meters. Its distribution area falls in the countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Xinjiang.

The orange-colored fleabane is widely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens. The species has been in culture since 1879 at the latest. There are numerous hybrid varieties.
