Organization of the police

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The organization of the police is different depending on the police system, usually a police authority is subordinate to a higher authority. In Germany a state police force is subordinate to the interior ministry of a state. This is a result of Article 30 of the Basic Law . The Federal Police are subordinate to the Federal Ministry of the Interior .

Each police force is divided into associations , which are summaries of a large number of departments, for example an area police headquarters . This is regulated in detail at least by regulation.

Police of the countries

A common organizational structure for services of the state police is the police headquarters - Police Directorate - Police Station - Police Station . A common structure for units of the riot police is the Presidium of the Riot Police (BPP) - (Riot Police) Department (BPA) - Einsatzhundschaft (EH) - Zug (Roman numeral) - Group - Troop - Patrol. The radio call name clearly reflects the position in the structure.

The German police have individual police services and a police association for "everyday life" . The part of the police that performs patrol duty is called individual duty (protection police) ; a patrol team usually consists of two people. In the case of special units (e.g. dog squadrons), the patrol duty is carried out alone, or in exceptional situations (e.g. for training) the patrol duty is carried out in groups of three. Closed units are either part of the operational hun- dreds or special units. You work at least in groups, mostly in pull strength. They are used in large-scale manhunts, large searches, key actions, large events and the support of individual police forces.

Criminal Investigation Offices and Federal Police

There are also the state criminal investigation offices , which are centrally responsible for large criminal cases. Special departments are police helicopter squadrons and the water police . Both are organized very differently. The Federal Police have set up the Federal Police Office See as the higher authority for this purpose . Organizationally, they relocate other police forces to the state or riot police. The German coast guard is a special case, because organizationally only a small part of it belongs to the police.
