The Orla Ściana ( Polish for "eagle wall") is a mountain in the Miedziane Grań massif in the Polish High Tatras in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship with an altitude of 1620  m npm

Location and surroundings

Below the summit the valleys are Roztoka Marmot in the West, Fish Lake Valley to the west and Roztokatal in the north.

The Orla Ściana lies between the mountain passes Koppe over the Lehne ( Czuba nad Uboczą ) and Zirbenjoch ( Limbowa Przełęcz ). It lies in the northeast ridge of the massif.

The Gowoniowa Nyża Cave is located in the mountain at an altitude of 1505 m .

etymology

The name Orla Ściana can be translated as eagle wall . It comes from the golden eagles that nest in the mountain.

First ascent

The climb up the Orla Ściana is quite easy. It can therefore be assumed that shepherds, miners and poachers have been climbing it since the 17th century at the latest. The alpine pasture built on it reached to the summit.

tourism

There are no marked hiking trails on the Orla Ściana.

At the foot of the massif are the shelters Schronisko PTTK nad Morskim Okiem in the east and Schronisko PTTK w Dolinie Pięciu Stawów Polskich in the west. Not far from the summit is the Schronisko PTTK w Dolinie Roztoki refuge .
