The Miedziane Grań , also called Północno-wschodnia grań Szpiglasowego Wierchu , is a mountain range in the Polish High Tatras in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship and the Bukowina Tatrzańska municipality with a maximum altitude of 2233  m npm in Szpiglasowy Wierch .

Location and surroundings

Below the massif lie the Dolina Pięciu Stawów Polskich and Dolina Rybiego Potoku valleys . The massif is bordered by the Szpiglasowa Przełęcz mountain pass on the Szpiglasowa Grań massif in the south.

The ridge of the massif from south to north runs as follows:

  • Ratzenjoch mountain pass ( Świstowe Siodło ) - ok. 1870 m above sea level
  • Ratzenhöcker summit ( Świstowa Kopa ) - 1875 m above sea level
  • Summit Roztokaer Mönch ( Roztocki Mnich ) - 1700 m above sea level
  • The Ratz Pass ( Świstowy Przechód ) mountain pass - 1755 m above sea level
  • Ratzenkoppe peak ( Świstowa Czuba ) - 1763 m above sea level

eastern junction from Brandberg ( Opalony Wierch ):

  • Koppe mountain pass above the Lehne ( Czuba nad Uboczą ) - 1630 m above sea level
  • Peak Adlerwand ( Orla Ściana ) - 1620 m above sea level
  • Zirbenjoch mountain pass ( Limbowa Przełęcz ) - 1530 m above sea level
  • Zirbenwand summit ( Limbowa Ściana ) - 1580 m above sea level,
  • Mountain pass Fünfseesattel ( Roztockie Siodło ) - 1405 m above sea level
  • Fünfseekoppe summit ( Roztocka Czuba ) - 1425 m above sea level,

The peaks are located east of the main ridge in the massif

  • Bär ( Niedźwiedź ) at 1812 m above sea level
  • Upper Koppe ( Wyżnia Kopa ) at 1725 m above sea level
  • Lower Koppe ( Niżnia Kopa ) at 1711 m above sea level
  • Wrótka at 1570 m above sea level

etymology

The name Miedziane Grań can be translated as Miedziane ridge or ridge of the copper mountain . The name comes from the highest peak in the massif, the Miedziane. The name Północno-wschodnia grań Szpiglasowego Wierchu can be translated as the north-eastern ridge of the Szpiglasowy Wierch.

Flora and fauna

The Grań Miedziane is a retreat for bears, chamois, marmots and golden eagles. You can find alpine vegetation on it.

A yellow-marked hiking trail leads to the Szpiglasowa Przełęcz mountain pass, the Ceprostrada from the Schronisko PTTK nad Morskim Okiem mountain lake Meerauge and from the mountain lake Wielki Staw Polski in the valley of the Dolina Pięciu Stawów Polskich . A blue-marked hiking trail leads to the Świstowy Przechód mountain pass , which also begins at the Schronisko PTTK nad Morskim Okiem mountain lake Meerauge and ends at the Schronisko PTTK w Dolinie Pięciu Stawów Polskich . The ridge path across the massif, which was very popular in the 19th century, has been closed as the area has been declared a strict nature reserve.
