The Ratzenhöcker ( Polish Świstowa Kopa ) is a mountain in the massif of the Miedziane Grań in the Polish High Tatras in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship with an altitude of 1875 m npm
Location and surroundings
Below the summit are the valleys, Roztoka Murmelteirtal in the east, Fünfseental in the west and Roztokatal in the north.
The Ratzenhöcker is separated from the summit of Opalony Wierch in the south by the Ratzenjoch ( Świstowe Siodło ). It lies in the northwest ridge of the massif.
etymology
The name Świstowa Kopa can be as marmot hill translate, analogous to Zipserdeutschen Austruck "Ratzen" for marmots. It comes from the hanging valley Świstówka Roztocka below the summit.
First ascent
The ascent to the Ratzenkoppe is quite easy. It can therefore be assumed that shepherds, miners and poachers have been climbing it since the 17th century at the latest. The alpine pasture laid out on it reached up to the summit.
tourism
The Ratzenkoppe is very popular with hikers because it is easy to climb. A blue marked hiking trail leads over the summit from the Bergsee Meerauge to the Fünfseental .
At the foot of the massif are the shelters Schronisko PTTK nad Morskim Okiem in the east and Schronisko PTTK w Dolinie Pięciu Stawów Polskich in the west.
