history

The chapel was built in 1834 in the baroque tradition . The first bell lift at the chapel took place in 1859. In 1866 it was consecrated and in 1867 the building was restored. During the First World War, the chapel bell was removed and replaced in 1926 by a bell from the Wagna refugee camp , with Countess Goëss acting as godmother.

The measurement license was extended to twelve exhibitions a year in 1926 and finally extended in 1948. The chapel itself was renovated in 1924 and 1964 and between 1986 and 1988, and the altar was restored in 1976. The chapel was rededicated on June 19, 1988.

View of the altar of the local chapel

The neo-baroque chapel has a curved gable and a roof turret . The stone altar, dated 1625, bears a central statue of Our Lady on a crescent moon and originally comes from the chapel of Ligist Castle . The two side niche figures of Saints Catherine and Charles Borromeo , made in the 19th century, also come from the palace chapel. The altarpiece shows representations of the three basic virtues of Christianity Fides, Spes and Caritas (faith, hope and love). In the chapel there is also a baroque wooden statue of St. Nicholas , which was restored and gilded in 1865/66.

The wall paintings in the chapel were created by Franz Weiss .
