Ortwin Schweitzer

Ortwin Schweitzer (* 1937 ) is a German senior teacher and the long-time head of the house group department in the Office for Missionary Services of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg, head of the Adoramus community and author.

Live and act

Schweitzer studied modern philology and Protestant theology in Tübingen , Basel and Reading / England and taught German and Protestant religion as a teacher at a grammar school in Württemberg for five years. In 1971 he was appointed to the Evangelical Youth Office in Württemberg , where he set up and supervised the work of the student Bible groups as a state youth officer. From 1979 to 1994 he was the head of the house group department for house Bible groups at the Office for Missionary Services of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg. During this time he built up the house group work with around 5,000 circles. He worked in the regional church until his retirement at the end of 2000.

Schweitzer is a member of the Circle of Charismatic Leaders (KCL) founded in 1993 . Since 2006 he has been collecting prayer leaders across Europe in the "European Union of Prayer", which meets every six months to pray for the EU in the country that holds the Council Presidency.

For the home group work in German-speaking he publishes the magazine "Bible aktuell" and as part of the prayer initiative "Wächterrufs" the monthly prayer letter and the "political side" out, which takes up one each political issue, which is to pass on to prayer.

Ortwin Schweitzer is married to Inge, b. Möbius. The couple has four children and lives in Leinfelden-Echterdingen .
