The Osage River is a 444 km long right tributary of the Missouri River in the US state of Missouri . The Osage River is one of the largest rivers in Missouri. The river mainly drains rural areas. The drainage basin is 15,300 km² and includes east-central Kansas and much of west-central Missouri, where it drains the northwestern part of the Ozark Plateau . The river flows mainly in an easterly direction. For the last 50 miles it changes its direction of flow to the northeast until it meets the Missouri River. A large part of the river was converted into a lake landscape - consisting of the two reservoirs Harry S. Truman Reservoir and Lake of the Ozarks .
