Oskar Günther

Oscar Heinrich Günther (born March 20, 1861 in Grimma , † March 16, 1945 in Plauen ) was a German politician ( Free People's Party , Progressive People's Party , DDP , Economic Party ).

Life and work

After finishing secondary school at the community school in Grimma , Günther, who was of Protestant faith, completed a commercial apprenticeship. He then did military service with the 2nd Saxon Uhlan Regiment in Rochlitz . He later worked as an independent businessman in Plauen .

Political party

Günther initially belonged to the Free People's Party and was its state chairman in the Kingdom of Saxony ; After the Liberals had merged with other left-liberal parties in the Progressive People's Party in 1910, he also became the Saxon state chairman there. In 1918 he participated in the founding of the DDP and took over the chairmanship of the regional association of Saxony. At the end of the 1920s he joined the Reich Party of German Middle Classes (Economic Party ).

MP

Günther was a member of the Saxon state parliament from 1903 to 1918 . From 1910 he was chairman of the Progressive People's Party.

From 1907 to 1911 Günther was a member of the Reichstag for the Plauen constituency . From January to June 1919 he was a member of the Weimar National Assembly .

In 1919/20 Günther was a member of the Saxon People's Chamber for the DDP . From 1922 to 1926 he was again a member of the Saxon state parliament for the DDP . On October 5, 1926, he resigned from the party. From 1929 to 1933 Günther was again a member of the Saxon State Parliament for the economic party.

Public offices

Günther was appointed Saxon State Minister without portfolio in October 1918.
