Oscar Miller (born May 28, 1826 in Heidenheim an der Brenz ; † March 2, 1893 in Biberist , Canton Solothurn ) was a German paper manufacturer and collector of contemporary Swiss art, patron and donor, active in Switzerland . From 1876 he was an honorary citizen of Biberist.

Oscar Miller came from a family that can be traced back to Altenstadt near Geislingen an der Steige and Heidenheim an der Brenz until around 1700 . His father Jakob was a pharmacist in Heidenheim and had to leave Heidenheim for political reasons. Oscar completed an apprenticeship as a papermaker in Heidenheim. From 1845 to 1847 he headed the paper mill in Pfullingen (Württemberg), then that in Bautzen (Saxony) and from 1852 to 1862 the paper mill in Voltri near Genoa.

In 1859 Escher, Wyss & Cie. the concession for the construction of the Emmen Canal in Biberist from the government of the Canton of Solothurn . In 1862, the Biberist AG paper mill was founded on the company's initiative. Oscar Miller was commissioned to build the factory and was its first director from 1862 to 1892. The factory started production in 1865, a wood pulp factory was opened in Rondchâtel in 1882 and its own cellulose factory in 1884 . In 1888 the Biberist paper mill bought the paper mills in Worblaufen and Frinvillier .

Oscar Miller collected art and was also a charitable. His son of the same name, Oscar Miller, took over the management of the Biberist paper mill and also the collecting activities.
