Oskar Smreker

Oskar Smreker (born August 19, 1854 at Görzhof near Cilli , † February 19, 1935 in Paris ) was an Austrian civil engineer .

Life

Oskar Smreker studied from 1870 to 1874 at the mechanical-technical and engineering departments of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and completed his studies with a diploma . He then worked on the construction of the Moselle Railway and joined Civilingenieur Gruner in Regensburg in 1875 . He worked as a senior engineer at the Italian Società nationale per Gasometri ed Acquedotti in Bologna and at Aird & Marc in Berlin. On behalf of this company, he took part in building the water supply for the city of Darmstadt . In MannheimHe founded his own company, Wasserwerks- und Kanalisationsbauten Oskar Smreker GmbH, and played a key role in the construction of the Mannheim water tower . He was entrusted with the construction of the waterworks in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , Rüdesheim and Boppard as well as in numerous other German cities. In 1912 he built the Eichwalde water tower . In 1914, Oskar Smreker his doctorate at the age of 60 years at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich for Doctor of Engineering ( Dr.-Ing. ). The topic of his dissertation was: "The groundwater, its manifestations, laws of motion and determination of quantities".
