The Osoblaha rises as Petrovický potok on the northern slope of the Kutný vrch ( Lachberg , 866 m) in the Zuckmanteler Bergland in the Czech Republic . Its course initially leads north and turns north-east in Petrovice at the foot of Ďáblův Kopec (644 m). At Janov the brook reaches the Leobschützer Loesshügelland ( Opavská pahorkatina / Płaskowyż Głubczycki ). Jindřichov ve Slezsku , Arnultovice, Vysoká ve Slezsku , Pitárné, Životice, Sádek, Dívčí Hrad , Dolní Povelice, Dubský Mlýn, Ostrá Hora and the castle ruins of Fulštejn are on its further course . From Bohušov the Osoblaha flows north and parallel to the Polish border past Dolní Mlýn, Sławoszów and Nowa Wieś to Osoblaha , where it turns northeast and takes the Prudník at Studnice. The stream then flows into Polish territory and is called Osobłoga. The Osobłoga finally flows into the Oder via Racławice Śląskie , Klisinsko, Dzierżysławice, Mochów, Głogówek and Krapkowice .

Its catchment area covers 993.2 km², of which 745 km² are in Poland.
