history

The later filler stone was founded in the middle of the 13th century in the course of the settlement of North Moravia by the Olomouc bishop Bruno von Schauenburg and settled with Germans. Presumably in 1255, Bishop Bruno transferred it to his truchess Herbort von Fülme . After 1255 he built a church dedicated to St. Martin was consecrated as well as a castle that he called "Füllstein". The settlement around the castle was initially referred to as "Gottfriedsdorf", to which the castle name "Füllstein" later passed. The castle and place were owned by the Füllstein family until 1570 and then passed to the Sedlnitzky von Choltitz family . Because of their participation in the class uprising in 1618 , they lost their property after the battle of the White Mountain . The next owner was the governor of Moravia, Count Maximilian von Dietrichstein . However, in 1630 he sold Füllstein to Baron Georg Maximilian von Hoditz, who was raised to the rank of imperial count in 1641. During the Thirty Years War , the castle and village of Füllstein suffered severe damage from the Swedes. In 1741 Albert Joseph von Hoditz took over the estate, but had to sell it in 1770 due to over-indebtedness.

After the First Silesian War in 1742, Füllstein remained with Bohemia, but was now on the border with Prussian Silesia . After the abolition of patrimonial, Füllstein became an independent municipality that belonged to the district administration Jägerndorf . In 1898 it was connected to the Röwersdorf – Hotzenplotz narrow-gauge railway . After the transition to Czechoslovakia in 1918, Füllstein received the official place name Fulštejn in 1921 . In 1930 there were 805 inhabitants in Fulštejn, 779 of them were Germans. After the Munich Agreement , Füllstein / Fulštejn was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Jägerndorf district until 1945 . After the Second World War , Füllstein / Fulštejn received the official place name Bohušov . The German residents were expelled . As a result, the population decreased significantly and was only 384 in 1950. Some of the new residents were repatriates from Volhynia . At the end of 1960 the Okres Krnov was dissolved and Bohušov was assigned to the Okres Bruntál.
