history

Austrian kuk postage stamp, stamped RAASE , 1895

Until 1918 Raase was part of Austria-Hungary (after the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867 in Austrian territory) in the Freudenthal ( Bruntál ) district, one of the 8 district authorities in Austrian Silesia .

The town had its own post office since 1870.

In 1910 (according to the 1910 census) there were 1839 permanent residents in the village, of which 1830 or 99.5% stated that they spoke German as their main language. Almost as many, 1829 inhabitants, professed the Roman Catholic faith.
