Lichnov (German Lichten ) is a municipality with around 1000 inhabitants in the Okres Bruntál in the Czech Republic .
geography
Lichnov is 380 m above sea level. M. in the valley of the Čižina ( Cziczina ) ten kilometers southwest of Krnov ( hunting village ).
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1340. The remains of a hill fort in the local area are dated to the year 1120.
Lichten belonged to the rulership of Jägerndorf and thus to the Bennisch town villages. In the second half of the 15th century, Johann von Kralitz sold the Zator fortress including the villages of Breitenau, Seifersdorf, Wiese, Friedersdorf and Lichten to Johann von Woschütz .
In 1420 the Hussites raged near Hof and Lichten. In 1471, in the course of the war between Poland and Hungary, the area was also affected by light, as the fighting took place near Troppau. From 1497 to 1507, Johann von Woschitz was chief judge in the Principality of Jägerndorf and named himself after the property Lichten Johann Lichnovsky von Woschütz .
His four sons sold the Zator estate and kept Lichten and Taubnitz. In 1522 Peter Lichnowsky von Woschitz bought the castle and village of Neplachowitz and the town of Pickau. His son Nikolaus took over Lichten, his brother Johann Neplachowitz. In 1612 Lichten fell to the Margraves of Jägerndorf.
Before the Reformation there was a parish in Lichten, to which Milkendorf and Taubnitz also belonged. The majority of the inhabitants of Lichten were Protestant until the 18th century. The registers begin in 1664, the oldest land registers go back to 1622.
There were two Meierhöfe in the village, the Oberhof and the Niederhof. The Niederhof dates from 1608.
The community of Lichten had 2057 inhabitants on December 1, 1930, 1676 on May 17, 1939 and 913 on May 22, 1947.
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and until 1945 belonged to the Freudenthal district .
The German residents were expelled in 1945.
The community has set up a museum in the former Küffe villa.

On December 1, 1930 the district Taubnitz had 263 inhabitants, on May 17, 1939 there were 249 and on May 22, 1947 147 inhabitants.
