history

Tvrdkov was probably founded in the 13th century by the Lords of Bludov and was first mentioned in 1349. In 1398 Jobst von Moravia pledged the Rabenstein estates together with the neighboring Stralek and the associated localities Römerstadt , Irmsdorf, Andersdorf, Johnsdorf , Reschen, Hangenstein, Twirdkow, Frankstadt and Rabenseifen to Proček von Kunstadt and Bouzov . Subsequently, Römerstadt became more and more important and developed into the new center of the Rabensteiner estates. Peter von Žerotín auf Schönberg , who was given the Rabenstein rulership as pledge at the beginning of the 16th century, had a new castle built in Janowitz from 1524 and took up his seat there. In the 16th century, the German colonization of the area began at this time the German name Pürkau was also born . While the neighboring Ruda developed into a mining settlement at that time, Pürkau remained dominated by agriculture. The grain was ground in the mill at Tvrdkovský potok below the village. Wooden shingles were also made. After the Thirty Years War, the place was completely populated by Germans. Pürkau was the seat of a vomit . Construction of the church began in 1768, the costs were borne by the builder Augustin Linke and the other residents. Previously there was only a wooden bell tower and a morgue in the cemetery. In 1798 a one-class village school was set up. Pürkau remained submissive to Janowitz until the middle of the 19th century .

After the abolition of patrimonial Pürkau / Tvrdkov formed a community in the judicial district of Römerstadt from 1849. In 1869 Pürkau consisted of 74 houses and had 435 inhabitants. In August 1905, lightning struck the school and caused considerable damage. In 1919 Pürkau was the first village in the region to be electrified because of the petroleum shortage at the time. In 1930 366 people lived in the 82 houses in Pürkau, compared to 349 in 1939.

From 1938 to 1945, Pürkau belonged to the German district of Römerstadt . After the war, Tvrdkov returned to Czechoslovakia and the German population was expelled .

After the Okres Rýmařov was abolished, the municipality was assigned to the Okres Bruntál in 1960. The former inheritance court was demolished in the 1960s and a grocery store was built on its place. Between 1980 and 1990 Tvrdkov was incorporated into Horní Město. Since November 24, 1990 the municipality Tvrdkov exists again, at the same time Mirotínek and Ruda were added as districts.
