Karlova Studánka (German Bad Karlsbrunn ) is a spa town in the Czech district of Bruntál . In 2006 the health resort had 226 inhabitants.
geography
The village is in the Sudetes ; In the immediate vicinity is the 1,491 m high Altvater , the highest point in Moravia . Hiking trails lead from the village on both sides of the White Oppa ( Bílá Opava ) into the mountain region.
history
Until the beginning of 1803 the place bore the German name Hinnewieder and was known as a miners' settlement. Iron ore was mined. After the discovery of the first sources, the first bathhouse was built in 1785 by Maximilian Franz of Austria . The first spa guests gave the place Hinnewieder the nickname (every now and then), because they traveled to and from every day because there was not yet enough accommodation. Later, after the discovery of other springs, the guest houses were also built. Significantly, both Maximilian and Karl von Österreich-Teschen preferred the seaside resort. In 1803, in honor of Archduke Karl, the place was renamed Bad Karlsbrunn.
Spa and sights
Karlova Studánka is considered one of the most beautiful health resorts in the Czech Republic. The spa facilities include a sanatorium for the treatment of patients with diseases of the respiratory system. The iron springs and the sour wells are particularly famous. The spa houses date from the beginning of the 19th century and testify to the wealth of the place, which goes back to the operation of the spa.
