action
Dusty, a yoga instructor from Colorado , went to Afghanistan on her own to find her brother Derek. As a traumatized firefighter who attended September 11th , he believes in the conspiracy theory that Osama bin Laden is still alive. On her rescue mission she meets a NATO Special Forces team who are on a top secret special mission . The Taliban created zombies that are supposed to act as suicide bombers. The team agrees to help Dusty but has to split up as they are near the Taliban base.
Derek has meanwhile infiltrated the Taliban. But when his cover is blown, he has to flee. While Dusty is on the road with one part of the team, the other team meets Derek, who saves their lives in a minefield. The two teams meet again shortly afterwards. However, there is an argument and that night Derek leaves to finally track down bin Laden. When Dusty notices that he is missing, she urges them to storm the facility. The team actually manages to penetrate the base, but they are captured. In prison they are said to be fed to Osama bin Laden, who has meanwhile become a zombie. However, the team can break free and escape from the facility. Derek stays behind with Osama and destroys him with a rocket launcher.
In the end, all surviving members of the team including Derek meet and they make their way home through the desert.

criticism
Osombie received generally bad reviews:
"Too hard for a comedy, the disrespectful horror only impresses with the chutzpah of the scriptwriters."
Haiko herds from Haiko's film dictionary criticized:
“What kind of fireworks could 'Osombie' have been if a real director had implemented the whole thing with self-irony and handmade splatter effects? But as? Again: absolutely boring cucumber, for which this meeting is actually too much advertising. "
Filmbessprechungen.de, like some other reviews, criticizes the fact that the eponymous Osama bin Laden can only be seen for a few seconds. It is a sham because it is neither a horror comedy nor a socially critical work, but simply a normal, uninspired zombie film .
Christopher Uiz from Moviebreak.de came to the following conclusion:
“'Osombie' is a no-brainer as it stands in the book. Never intended as a serious cinematic contribution, John Lyde's strip offers the inclined trash fan exactly what the cover and title promise so full-bodied. Lots of dead Taliban zombies, senseless pro-military dialogues, explosive, thoroughly brutal shootings, below-average effects, appealing masks and costumes and a basic topic to make others ashamed of.
