The Ossuga ( Russian Осу́га ) is a 167 km long river in the European part of Russia . It is a right and the largest tributary of the Tverza in the river system of the Volga .
course
The Ossuga rises on the southeastern edge of the Zninskaja voswyschennost ridge ( Russian Цнинская возвышенность ), a foothill of the Waldai heights in the central Tver Oblast . It flows in an easterly direction and shortly afterwards reaches Kuwschinowo . The river here is 4-6 meters wide and polluted by the sewage from the local paper mill.
In Kuwschinowo the Ossuga turns to the southeast, but turns to the northeast after just a few kilometers. The river flows very curvy through the wooded central Tver Oblast and is between 20 and 30 meters wide and 1–1.2 meters deep in its middle course.
At Twerezki the Ossuga finally reaches the Twerza.
use
The Ossuga is a popular destination for anglers and boaters during the ice-free period from April to November . The river is mainly fed by melt water.
