Ostendorf is a church village and part of the market Meitingen in the Swabian district of Augsburg in Bavaria ( Germany ).
Ostendorf is one of the border towns of the Alemannic dialect area to Bavarian.
history
Until 1818 Ostendorf belonged to the municipality of Westendorf . Subsequently, until the regional reform in Bavaria on July 1, 1972, the then independent municipality of Ostendorf belonged to the district of Wertingen . It was added to the Augsburg-West district (from May 1, 1973 Augsburg district ) and incorporated into Meitingen on the same day.
On July 9th, 2009 the former bishop of Augsburg , Walter Mixa, visited the Sankt Michaels church in Ostendorf to consecrate it after it was renovated.
Ostendorf belongs to the Catholic parish of St. Georg in Westendorf .
