Oswald Hecker

Oswald Artur Hecker (born August 5, 1879 in Dresden ; † March 7, 1953 ) was a German university and high school teacher for modern history and colonial history in Dresden and Leipzig.

Life

Hecker studied history at the Eberhard Karls University from the winter semester 1900/01 . On May 22, 1901, he was reciprocated in the Corps Borussia Tübingen . At the end of the summer term 1902 inactivated , he moved to the University of Leipzig . In 1906 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD. In the same year he became an employee of the Saxon Commission for History . In 1912 he completed his habilitation for history in Dresden. In 1914 he went to the First World War as a lieutenant in the Landwehr . 1915–1918 he was a battery and orderly officer , from 1917 as the commander of a battery column on the western front . After the Armistice of Compiègne , the TH Dresden appointed him professor in the field of philosophy and cultural studies in the department of general sciences (1919–1928). In 1922 he passed the examination for the higher teaching post. He was in the same year teacher and in 1929 director of studies in Dresden. Later he was senior director of studies and honorary professor in Leipzig . He was married to Gertrud born in 1913. Rothe.
