Oswald Holder-Egger

Oswald Holder-Egger (born August 19, 1851 in Bischofswerder , West Prussia, † November 1, 1911 in Berlin ) was a German Middle-Latin philologist and paleographer .

Life

Oswald Holder-Egger did his doctorate on the world chronicle of Sulpicius Severus . From 1875 to 1888 he was an employee (Scriptores) and from 1888 to 1911 a member of the central management of the Monumenta Germaniae Historica , head of the Scriptores and Epistolae departments. In 1896 he was elected a corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences . From 1902 to 1905 he was elected but not appointed chairman of the central management of the Monumenta Germaniae Historica. Today his library, together with the library of Ludwig Traube, forms the core of the MGH library.
