Oswald von Eck

Oswald von Eck (* before 1539; † 1573 in Regensburg ) was a German humanist , rector of the University of Ingolstadt and collector of the writings of Johannes Aventine .

Life

Oswald von Eck was a son of Leonhard von Eck . He studied in Bologna and Ingolstadt . Oswald von Eck was given to Johannes Aventinus for education, but he died soon afterwards.

1539 von Eck became rector of the University of Ingolstadt . Later, in 1563, he was found in the Protestant camp of the Ortenburg aristocratic conspiracy .

After that he got into big trouble because of indebtedness. Large parts of the parental goods, including the extensive library of his father Leonhard von Eck , had to be auctioned to settle them. The books were acquired by Erasmus Neustetter called Striker . The remains of the collection are now kept in the Württemberg State Library.
