Othmar Schimkowitz
Othmar Schimkowitz (born October 2, 1864 in Tárts , Komorn County , † April 24, 1947 in Graz ) was an Austrian sculptor .
Life
Othmar Schimkowitz studied from 1886 to 1892 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna , worked in New York in the studio of the Austrian-American sculptor Karl Bitter , but also in Chicago and Philadelphia. From 1895 he owned a studio in Vienna. From 1897 he was a member of the Vienna Secession and was its president from 1929 to 1930. Othmar Schimkowitz was also a member of the German Association of Artists .
From 1914 to 1934 he taught plastic design and model making at the Technical University of Vienna .
The painter and graphic artist Herbert Schimkowitz (1898–1938) is his son.
