Otmar Kessler (politician)

Otmar Kessler (born August 20, 1924 in Illingen ) is a Saarland politician ( CVP / CDU ).

Kessler passed his matriculation examination in 1942 at the Ludwigsgymnasium in Saarbrücken . He was then called up for military service. He became a prisoner of war, from which he was released in October 1945. He then studied law at the University of Mainz . The state examination he laid in October 1949 in Rhineland-Palatinate and again in March 1950 from Saarland. After the assessor exam in 1953, he first worked in the legal department of the Landesbank and Girozentrale Saar , then for the employers 'association of the iron and metal industry and for the working group of employers' organizations in Saarland. In 1955 and 1957, respectively, he was appointed deputy managing director of these two associations. In the mid-1960s he took on a position as co-director of the Saarbrücken utility and transport company .

Kessler was a member of the Christian People's Party of the Saarland (CVP) and later joined the CDU. From 1956 he was a long-time member of the Saarbrücken city council and initially chaired the CVP parliamentary group. He was a member of the Saarland state parliament from 1952 to 1955, and in 1957 he was able to move up again for Franz Ruland . Most recently he was chairman of the electoral review committee, deputy chairman of the committee for economy and transport and member of the committees for civil service issues, for matters of internal administration and local politics as well as for legal issues. In 1961 he left parliament.
