Ottaviano di Paoli de 'Conti di Segni (* in the 12th century in Rome ; † January 29, 1234 ibid) was an Italian cardinal .

Life

Ottaviano came from the Italian noble family of the Conti . He received the ordination as sub-deacon and then worked as an auditor at the Roman Rota . Around the year 1200 (possibly also 1206 or 1216) he was head of the papal household as Camerlengo . Pope Innocent III , his cousin, elevated him to cardinal deacon in 1205 with the title deaconry Santi Sergio e Bacco . Ottaviano Conti took part in the papal election in 1216 , in which Honorius III. was raised to the chair of Peter. In 1221 he was a cardinal protodeacon . He became a legate in the Marche and took part in the papal election in 1227 , after which he appointed the new Pope Gregory IX. crowned . On June 28, 1228 he signed a papal bull with the title Santi Pietro e Paolo , which is otherwise unknown.
