The Cürassier Regiment Schmidt was a cavalry association of the imperial army. The first regiment owner was Field Marshal Count Johann von Götzen in 1643 .

Formation history

  • 1643: formed from General Cracow's regiments in Poland.
  • 1649: The dissolved "Regiment Dohna" was incorporated and reduced to 3 companies in the same year
  • 1652: the dissolved "Khevenhüller Regiment" was incorporated
  • 1656: Five companies were handed over to re-establish the "Areyzaga Regiment"
  • 1657: Two companies of cuirassiers and one company of dragoons were recruited, one cuirassier company each was given to the regiments "Knigge" and "Leszno", the dragoons company to the "Regiment Spankau".
  • 1659: The dissolved "Regiment Poiger" incorporated
  • 1660: The dissolved Cürassier Regiment Braida is incorporated
  • 1664: 200 men were given to the newly established Metternich regiment
  • 1679: the regiment was disbanded, the crew incorporated into the regiments "Montecuccoli" and "Pállfy".

1645: Skirmishes in Silesia, Moravia and Bohemia, participation in the battle of Jankau
1646: The regiment was part of General Montecuccoli's army in Silesia, then marched to Bohemia under his command. The regiment suffered great losses in the battle near Trautenau and in the battle near Horitz
1647: Battle at Triebel, capture of the Königswarter Schanze. Siege of Eger
1648: Battle near Frauenberg . Garrison in Prague during the siege . Here Colonel Sergeant Walderoth distinguished himself in particular, Colonel Götz received an imperial "Thank You Letter".
1650: The regiment was in Hungary
1654: A company was involved in a battle near Komárom
1657: Relocation from Hungary to Silesia and then on to Poland to join the main army. Participation in the siege and capture of Krakow .
1658: With the main army in Poland, Brandenburg , Mecklenburg , Holstein and Jutland
1659: fighting in Holstein and Pomerania
1660: Still in Pomerania. Here Lieutenant Colonel Degener stood out in particular.
Siege of Nagykanizsa in May 1664 with the participation of the regiment
1663: Battle at Komárom
1664: Participation in the siege of Nagykanizsa , defensive battles at the Sernivár hill, participation in the battle of Mogersdorf , here the owner was praised.
1671–1678: Fights against the rebellious Kuruzen. The regiment was in action near the village of Böszörmeny and was praised for it.
1678: Relocation to Silesia
1679: With the Army Reduction as a result of the Peace of Nijmegen , the regiment and some others were abdicated (dissolved) and the personnel divided up in July of that year by imperial resolution.
