Otto Auer

Otto Auer (born January 4, 1966 in Hainburg an der Donau , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian politician of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). He has been the mayor of Höflein since 2005 and has been a member of the Federal Council delegated by the Lower Austrian state parliament since December 12, 2019 .

Life

After primary school in Höflein in the district of Bruck an der Leitha in Lower Austria and the secondary school in Bruck an der Leitha, Otto Auer attended the agricultural and forestry college in Obersiebenbrunn , completing his training in 1988 with the master's examination. Since 1991 he has been managing a mixed arable and wine-growing business with pig breeding. In 2005 he succeeded Franz Rupp as mayor of his home community Höflein. From 2000 to 2012 he was a board member of the Association of Lower Austrian Pig Breeders, and in 2008 he was elected chairman. Since 2005 he has been a board member of the leading region Römerland Carnuntum. In 2011 he became the district chairman of the Bruck an der Leitha farmers' union.

Auer was district chamber councilor from 2000 to 2004, deputy chamber chairman from 2004 to 2010 and from 2010 regional councilor in the plenary assembly of the Lower Austria Chamber of Agriculture . In December 2013 he succeeded Josef Pleil as Vice President of the Lower Austria Chamber of Agriculture. In October 2019, Andrea Wagner was presented alongside the President of the Chamber of Agriculture Johannes Schmuckenschlager and Lorenz Mayr as the top candidate for the 2020 Lower Austrian Chamber of Agriculture election. Mayr and Wagner succeeded the previous Vice Presidents Theresia Meier and Otto Auer after the election. Auer was elected as a member of the Federal Council by the state parliament of Lower Austria in place of Andrea Wagner on December 12, 2019 . At the end of April 2020, Mayr and Wagner were elected as vice-presidents of the Lower Austria Chamber of Agriculture elections.

Auer is married and has a daughter and two sons.
