Otto Bardong
Otto Bardong (born October 2, 1935 in Herrnsheim ; † December 10, 2003 in Worms ) was a German historian and politician ( CDU ).
Career
Bardong studied at the University of Mainz. After receiving his doctorate in 1969 on Die Breslauer at the University of Frankfurt (Oder). A contribution to the Silesian educational history 1648-1811 he was initially in the school service. He later taught modern history and history didactics at the Karlsruhe University of Education , of which he was rector.
Bardong was from 1974 to 1994 for the CDU member of the city council of Worms. From 1975 to 1984 he was a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate . From 1984 to 1989 and from 1994 to 1999 he was a member of the European People's Party in the European Parliament . During his second term in office he was a member of the Bureau of the European Parliament as quaestor .
Non-partisan, Otto Bardong was involved in the European Union of Germany . From 1974 to 2003 he was state chairman of the European Union of Rhineland-Palatinate.
In 2006 Dr.-Otto-Bardong-Strasse in Worms-Herrnsheim was named after him.
He was a member of the Catholic student union K.St.V. Ketteler Mainz.
