Otto Erler (born August 4, 1872 in Gera , † October 8, 1943 in Dresden ) was a German playwright .

Life

Born as the son of a forensic surgeon, Erler studied German and modern languages ​​in Marburg and Berlin after attending secondary school in Gera . During his studies in 1892 he became a member of the Arminia Marburg fraternity . After his doctorate as Dr. phil. Erler was initially a high school professor . As a representative of the Völkisch movement , he wrote the anti-Semitic tragic comedy Ehekünstler in 1903 . He was married to Eva Ziegler, the sister of Hans Severus Ziegler .
