Otto "Schloime" Fischer (born January 1, 1901 in Vienna ; † July 1941 in Liepāja ) was an Austrian football player and coach who played in the national team in the mid-1920s .

Club career

Schloime Fischer began his career at ASV Hertha Wien , where he also made his first appearances in the top division. In 1921, like many Viennese footballers at that time, he followed an offer from German Bohemia and played for Karlsbader FK for two years . He then returned to Vienna and joined First Vienna FC , where the winger quickly secured a regular place. On the left side of the storm, he first played together with Otto Höss and then with the Hungarians Kálmán Konrád and Antal Siklóssy . In his three years at the club, the Döblinger were twice runner-up and twice reached the ÖFB Cup finals , where they lost each time against the Viennese amateur SV .

After SC Hakoah Vienna lost its entire assault line to New York clubs as a result of its first North American tour, they were forced to find a replacement and one of the newcomers was Fischer. He played for a season and a half with the Krieauern and also took part in the second North American tour in the spring of 1927. At the beginning of 1928 he moved to SC Wacker Wien , where he formed the left attacking pair with Ignaz Tax , before he returned to the Hakoah at the end of his career, but had to end his career early because of a knee injury.

National team

In September 1923 Fischer ran for the first time for the national team when they lost 2-0 to the Hungarians in Budapest . At that time, however, the post of left winger in the team was mostly occupied by Gustav Wieser or Ferdinand Wesely , so it would take until 1925 for Fischer to return to work. He made his seventh and last game in the national dress in October 1928 against Switzerland as part of the Nations Cup .

Coaching career

At the end of his active career, Fischer started his coaching career and initially looked after the Serbian club FK Mačva Šabac and FC Salzburg. In 1932 he took over the training at DSV Saaz , where he stayed for two years and then went back to Yugoslavia to look after HŠK Concordia Zagreb . From 1936 he worked in Latvia, where he was coach of Olympia Libau and the Courland sub-association. Otto Fišers was with the club in 1936, 1938 and 1939 Latvian football champions.

death

After the German Wehrmacht invaded Latvia in 1941, Fischer, who was of Jewish origin, was murdered. The exact circumstances are unknown.
