European Cup of the National Football Teams 1927 to 1930

The first edition of the European Cup of the National Soccer Teams took place from September 1927 to May 1930 and was introduced at the instigation of the Austrian sports official Hugo Meisl . The national teams of Austria , Italy , Switzerland , Hungary and Czechoslovakia took part. After eight rounds of play, Italy was the winner. From 1929 to 1930 there was a parallel edition for amateur teams that was won by Poland .
