Otto Franker

Otto Helge Franker (* 7. May 1921 in Roskilde , † 22. August 1988 ) was a Danish pianist, vibraphonist and conductor and songwriter , who in the field of jazz and popular music worked. His name was also spelled Otto Francker .

Franker started as a pianist and initially accompanied the singer Ingelise Rune , but also recorded with Larry Adler . He directed his own orchestra, with which he played in Copenhagen's Apollotheatret . In 1953/54 he was engaged with his dance orchestra for the radio. In the next few years he went to the recording studio with Otto Brandenburg , Kjeld Petersen , Lise Ringheim , the Blue Boys and child stars like Dorthe and Robertino . He arranged for Svend Asmussen , but also wrote hits like Jeg snakker med mig selv , which was presented by Gitte Hænning at the national final of the Danish preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1962. The following year he wrote Dansevise for Grethe and Jørgen Ingmann , with whom he won the European song competition; the song became known in Germany with Ralph Maria Siegel's text as The summer went over .
