Otto Günther (born November 4, 1822 in Leipzig , † 1897 ) was a German lawyer and city ​​councilor .

Life

He studied law and graduated as Dr. iur. He then worked as a lawyer and court director. From 1867 to 1872 he was a city councilor in Leipzig. From 1881 to 1897, as a music lover and successor to Heinrich Conrad Schleinitz, he headed the Leipzig Conservatory .

His brother is the doctor and composer Hermann Günther , who wrote the comic opera The Abbot of St. Gallen under the pseudonym Herther .
