Heinrich Conrad Schleinitz
Heinrich Conrad Schleinitz (born October 1, 1802 in Zschaitz , † May 13, 1881 in Leipzig ) was a German lawyer and tenor .
Life
Schleinitz was born in 1802 as the son of a school principal in Zschaitz near Döbeln . He was a student at the St. Thomas School in Leipzig . After graduating from high school, he studied law at the University of Leipzig . He received his doctorate as Dr. iur. and worked as a lawyer in Leipzig. Later he received a musical education. He appeared as a tenor at a festival in Halle in 1830 and sang Mendelssohn's Elias in Leipzig in 1848 . After he was appointed to the administrative board of the Leipzig Gewandhaus , in 1835 he stood up for Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in the office of Gewandhauskapellmeister . A lifelong friendship developed between them. So it was A Midsummer Night's Dream and Night Song dedicated. After Mendelssohn's death in 1847, he became director of the Leipzig Conservatory . Schleinitz died in Leipzig in 1881, almost completely blind .
