Otto Hattendorff
Otto Hattendorff (born December 12, 1822 in Hanover , † April 18, 1905 in Stade ) was a German politician and Lord Mayor of the city of Celle .
Career
After studying law , Hattendorff, who had been a Freemason since 1847 , was employed at several courts. He was initially from 1847 to 1852 city and city court secretary at the Celle magistrate. With the separation of the judiciary from the administration in the Kingdom of Hanover in 1852, he decided for the judicial service and was first senior judge in Stade before he became crown attorney at the upper court of Meppen in 1867 . After several ballots on November 10, 1869, the magistrate unanimously elects Otto Hattendorff as mayor of Celle. The inauguration took place on February 7, 1870. In 1877 he was appointed Lord Mayor. He was also a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Hanover . In 1895 Hattendorff retired.
On May 25, 1892, on the occasion of the city's 600th anniversary, he was given the title of " Secret Government Councilor ". In 1894 he was awarded the Red Eagle Order 3rd class with ribbon and the number 50. The Hattendorffsgarten and the Hattendorffstrasse in Celle are named after him. He was married twice and had two sons. After retiring, he moved to Stade with his younger son Otto.
Services to the city of Celle
Under his leadership, Celle became an industrial city. The Commercial Association, the Commercial Guild and the Chamber of Commerce were established . New weekly market and livestock market regulations were issued in 1879 and 1890, respectively. The infrastructure was completed by country roads and rail connections and thus better connected to its procurement and sales markets.
In 1892, under Hatterdorf's leadership, Celle celebrated its 600th anniversary, which, according to Carla Meyer-Rasch, was "a festival that the city had never celebrated so magnificently", hosted by a man with a "nobility of conviction".
Hattendorff gave his successor Wilhelm Denicke a flourishing city.
